 Special Events for Kindergarten and School Classes

These programs take place during the day or in the evening.
The content is specially designed for the age of the children in your group. We can also cover special astronomical topics of your choice. These events take about 1½ hours.
Please contact us to arrange a special tour for your group.

 Schedule

Our program has the following steps (with the focus depending on the weather conditions):

• Tour of the observatory
• Show in our exhibition hall with detailed explanations
• Planetarium show: Artificial night sky in a 4.5 m sky dome
• Observing celestial objects through our telescopes (using a surprisingly realistic simulation if the weather is unfavorable).

 Birthday Parties for Children

A birthday party at the public observatory is a very memorable event for any child. For these occasions we offer you special guided tours on an arbitrary date. This tour is reserved for you and your party guests only and we will try to answer all questions and wishes of our guests.

 Content of the Guided Tour during the Birthday Party

• The tour starts in our exhibition hall, where the children go on a discovery journey to the planets of the solar system, using a large model of the sun and all the planets. Then our meteorite showcase is opened and every child gets a chance to hold one of the massive iron meteorites: Pieces from space, 4.5 billion years old!
• The tour continues in our planetarium, where the children first see the light polluted city sky and then go on a wonderful journey to the mountains, where the milky way shines brightly in a dark sky. We will provide explanations of the best-known constellations and the children will learn how to find the polar star.
• The observing platform holds the large telescopes, which we will explore as the third part of the tour. If the sky is clear we can observe the sun, the moon or a planet with one of the telescopes. Under less favorable conditions, we will do a surprisingly realistic simulation, which is always great fun for the children.
• The tour ends after about 1½ hours and the birthday child gets a small surprise present!

Additionally, you can also rent our 50 square meter conference room, which is equipped with a bar and a variable number of chairs and tables to eat and drink after the guided tour and do your own program with your guests. Please provide all food and drink yourself.
